In Year 3 this week, the children were given the opportunity to listen to a range of music, focusing on how the music affected their mood and how they felt. Responding through pictures, words and spoken contributions, the children were able to make links between the tempo and dynamics of a piece of music and how that made them feel. On the whole, slow and quiet music evoked either feelings of sadness or calmness whilst fast and loud music had the opposite effect.
At the end of the session, the children listened to the same piece of music arranged in different ways; one fast and loud, the other slow and quiet. All the children were able to comment on how people may have been feeling during each of the songs.
