In Key Stage Two singing assembly today, the children were introduced to the new genre-of-the-half-term, Bhangra. The children responded extremely positively to the tracks they heard (Jai Ho, from Slumdog Millionaire, and Apna Sangeet), commenting on the upbeat tempo (many children were dancing as they came in, and even some staff!) and the use of percussion instruments. Over this half term, the children will get the chance to see the different instruments used within this genre so look out for forthcoming blog posts!
Many of the children recognised the style of music from outside of school and some provided Mr Sharp with other songs to listen to (I look forward to listening to these and sharing them with you all in due course!).
